Austria Spring Splendor; Monday, May 14 thru Friday, May 18
Monday drove to Kitzbuhl, Austria for another great visit with Raimund Sulzenbacher's family long time friends. Raimund stayed for a year with the Weemhoffs in the mid 1980's when he learned computers at Lakeland College. He brought much joy to all especially Greg Weemoff. Our last visit to Kitzbuhl happened to be on September 11, 2001. Seeing the US on 911 on TV from Sulzenbacher's Austrian home will never be forgotten.
Highlights from three very active days together included: tour of Reidel glass factory, trip to Hall to see earliest coin making museum dating back over 750 years, visiting Raimund's construction company Idealbau, and an incredible day long trip up switchback roads to the ice field at the base of one of Austria's highest mountains.
We both agreed on our drive to the Munich airport Friday morning that we're blessed to have our extended family spread worldwide who welcomed us with open arms at every stop on the trip. Thanks to everyone for showing us so much of history and sharing so many vantage points about the today's world challenges. Our challenge is now to assimilate our impressions and challenges.
The last long flight from Munich to Montreal on Friday went fine. We were overjoyed at seeing son Bill's family in the Montreal airport and having a Canadian immigration agent actually welcome us back to North America.
